Our investment in the fashion value chain has continued to grow over the years and 2018 was no exception. We have continued to expand the ways in which we support fashion brands, businesses, students and the industry at large. Here are some highlights of our investment in the Fashion sector in the last quarter of 2018.
Collective RW at Biz Baz:
As part of our ongoing partnership with Collective RW we hosted 7 Rwandan brands that are part of their Collective at Bizarre Bazaar (Biz Baz), one of Kenya’s biggest craft fairs. The event took place on the 10th and 11th of November 2018 at Karura Forest. The brands featured from the Collective were a mix of men’s, women’s and accessory brands: Haute Baso, UZI Collections, Moshions, House of Tayo, Inzuki Designs, K'tsobe and Lisa b marler | Kigali.
The Core Fashion Kenya Workshops:
On the 1st to 3rd of November 2018, The Core Fashion Kenya held workshops on fashion, photography, branding and business. The workshops were led by renowned practitioners such as Jamel Daniel, menswear designer at Ralph Lauren NYC, Mariana Cantu, producer for Vogue Italia/L'UOMO Vogue and many others, and were a fantastic opportunity for learning and networking.
HEVA was pleased to be one of the event sponsors, and we also offered attendance sponsorships to 100 students from the leading fashion schools, McEnsal, Evelyn’s College of Art and Design and Buru buru institute of fine arts. Our Support and Compliance Manager Ms. Kendi Kamwambia, also led a workshop titled "Sourcing, Financing and Good Business Practices for Creative Businesses".
We'd like to thank everyone who stopped by the Collective RW stand at Biz Baz and Agence Française de Développement (AFD) for partnering with us to make both these investments possible.
