Wakiuru Njuguna Joins the Global Creative Economy Council

We are proud to share that HEVA Fund’s Managing Partner, Wakiuru Njuguna, has been appointed to the Global Creative Economy Council (GCEC), a global initiative convened by the UK’s Creative PEC and supported by the British Council.

The GCEC brings together leading voices from five continents. This includes academics, practitioners, investors, and policy professionals. The Council identifies and discusses emerging trends shaping the creative economy worldwide. They aim to shape inclusive, global perspectives, policies and standards that advance creative industries globally.

Wakiuru’s appointment reflects her deep expertise in building innovative financing models for Africa’s creative sector, particularly those that support youth-led and women-led enterprises. Over the years at HEVA Fund, she has been instrumental in pioneering investment approaches that combine commercial and impact objectives to make capital more accessible to creative professionals across East Africa.

Wakiuru's voice on the Council ensures that African creative economies are represented in global conversations about the future of work, cultural trade, and policy design.

“I’m particularly looking forward to engaging and collaborating with fellow members whose work I deeply admire. I also look forward to bringing African perspectives into global conversations about the future of creative industries.”
